Tomas Eloy Martinez, the Argentine-born writer, uses his experience as a journalist and novelist to examine Latin America’s role in world affairs in his semimonthly column. He is the author of "The Argentine Dream," "The Commonplace Death," "The Peron Novel" and "Santa Evita." His most recent work, "The Flight of the Queen," received the Alfaguara International Novel Award, Spain's most prestigious award for fiction. Martinez is a professor and director of the Latin American Program at Rutgers University.
